VARIOUS
WAYS OF IDENTIFYING GENUINE NOKIA PHONES
Genuine Nokia works with Nokia
software such as the Nokia software updater, PC suite, Ovi Suite or the ovi
store on the phone then it's genuine. Also when you connect it to a PC it gives
web cam or com port as options then it is a fake.
Genuine Nokia phones have a
tamper-proof label at the back and they also have tamper-proof warranty seal.
Original Nokia phone have batteries with hologram showing Nokia “Connecting
people” logo and “Original Enhancements” written on them. If you slant the
hologram left, right, down, and up you will see 1,2,3 and 4 dots on each side
So next time you buy a Nokia mobile, make sure you do all these tests. It does
not matter if the retailer gets annoyed with your behavior. Never mind, because
you are taking what you paid for.
Type *#06# in your phone, this
will enable you to check the country where your phone was assembled by the
checking the 7th and 8th digit of the number International Mobile Equipment
Identity (IMEI) you get. if its 01 0r 10 it is assembled in Finland, other
numbers will mean its assembled in somewhere else, for an example 02 means
Germany I think. But the truth is no matter where the parts are assembled they
are made all around the world. Presently, most stuff were made in china because
of the cheap labour. Here are some numbers I found in the internet that tells
the country they were assembled by the 7th and 8th digit. Though, I cannot give
you guarantee on these numbers.
30 or 03 = Korea
40 or 04 = China
50 or 05 = Brazil, USA, Finland
60 or 06 = Hong Kong, China,
Mexico
70 or 07 = Finland
80 or 08 = Hungary
91 or 19 = Finland
So as much as is possible, buy
your Nokia devices from a Nokia authorised source. Check Model Info and Date
Format This method involves comparing the model information on the battery
compartment of your Nokia phone with the information displayed when you make a
software request like *#0000#. It also involves checking that the date format
of the firmware conforms to Nokia's standard format.
To check the Nokia Model, first
of all, remove the battery of your phone and write down the information of the
phone written at the battery compartment. Put back the battery and switch on your
phone then dial this code *#0000#, the Nokia phone displays some information
about itself. Check to confirm the information display conform to the one written
down. If you discover any differences it is probably fake. Check Date format of
the firmware Nokia uses the European format (dd/ mm/yyyy or dd-mm-yyyy) for
displaying the date format of its firmware. This means that if the date format
is of any other format especially yyyy-mm-dd is probably fake.
Also dial *#06#, take note of the
number, it should be the same as in the back inside of the phone and the Box
that came with the Nokia phone.
You can also check the Service
Warranty secret code for further protection, press *#92702689#
However, that a Nokia phone passes this test
does not make it original. It only means it could be an original Nokia, but it
is not a guarantee.
Nokia
E72 without WiFi
Be aware that not all China made
E-72 do come with WiFi, Wide-band Coded-Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) is
installed instead. A 3G technology that increases data transmission
rates in GSM systems by using the CDMA air interface instead of TDMA. WCDMA is
based on CDMA and is the technology used in UMTS. It does not make it to be fake but it is the
Chinese National Standard for Wireless LANS prefer Wlan Authentication and
Privacy Infrastructure (WAPI). There are
criticisms for the use of WAPI. Learn more about WAPI
